The traditional business model that many manufacturers use to make their products is a linear one. It is referred to as a TAKE-MAKE-DISPOSE model. This "throwaway" model takes valuable resources from the earth, makes products without any thought to their next life, then these resources are disposed of into a landfill when they are no longer needed. Our company utilizes a Circular business model and views waste as a raw material. Careful thought goes into each product design so that there is minimal waste and materials are reused instead of disposed of. All of our products are made with the end of the product lifecycle in mind. After our products are no longer needed, we will reuse the raw materials and turn them into other products. Our design process utilizes a modular approach, where components from one product can be easily reused in another. Only after we can no longer use the material will it be sent for proper recycling.
Everything we manufacture is designed to help close the loop on apparel waste. We reduce our use of virgin materials, reuse post-consumer waste materials and repurpose them into new products. We are actively seeking to repurpose the following waste materials to make our products: Decommissioned climbing rope, worn blue jeans, sailboat sails and fabric made from recycled water bottles.
Coming Soon! Our recycled denim collection is made entirely from unwanted blue jeans. We dismantle the old jeans and cut them up into useful raw material used to make our products. Only after we can no longer reuse these materials do we send them to Blue Jeans Go Green, where they recycle the denim scraps into housing insulation.
