Closing the Loop Matters. At Circular Threads, how products are sourced and made, and where they end up matter. We make all of our products out of post-consumer waste materials. We work to use as much scrap and recycled materials into our products as possible.
Our Process - How it is Made:
The outside printed fabric is sailcloth that is woven from recycled water bottles (rPET). Most sailboat sails are made from virigin polyester called Dacron that is very energy intensive to make. Making sailcloth out of recycled water bottles uses significantly less energy and natural resources. The recycled saicloth is then printed with water based inks that won't fade using the nautical chart of your choosing.
The inside liner is reinforced with a laminated fabric to help keep contents dry inside. This fabric is called EcoPak™, which is the world's only durable and waterproof fabric that is made from 100% recycled polyester fiber and film. The liner is also free of harmful forever chemicals and is fluorocarbon free. C0 DWR (no fluorocarbons) and no VOC's.
Each yard of recycled fabric saves over one pound of CO2, compared to virgin fabric and upcycles about 20 plastic water bottles.
Zipper: We use YKK Natulon Coil Zippers. The Natulon zippers are made from recycled rPET water bottles.

Carry Handle:
The toiletry kit comes standard with a carry handle that is made from recycled sailcloth. We also make this kit with an upgraded strap that is made from nautical rope.
Upgrade your kit: As an alternative to the standard sailcloth handle, we also offer a handle that is made from New England Rope STA-SET shorts and a brass trigger snap. The purpose of this rope handle is that it is detachable, so that you can hang your toiletry kit to a towel rack or cleat to keep it from moving around.
Recycling old sails:
We can turn your old sail into a new product for you. If you have an old sail that you would like us to keep out of the landfill, please contact us for recycling options. We can send you a prepaid shipping label to send it to us.
